Lauryn Schiffrin, Virginia Commonwealth University

Lauryn Schiffrin is getting her OTD degree at Virginia Commonwealth University.

She completed her Bachelor of Science in Human Development in just three years with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Her academic achievements, coupled with her enthusiasm for teaching, are evident as she applied to be a Teaching Assistant for Gross Anatomy next year, motivated by her own positive experience and encouragement from students that she helped this year.

She orchestrated major fundraising events for her sorority, including a highly successful canned food drive that brought in the most money of any campus organization. She also held key leadership positions in her dance company. Her roles as Publicity Director and Artistic Director honed her skills in collaboration, organization, and management. As she transitions into graduate school, she has proactively sought opportunities to contribute to admissions and recruitment, demonstrating her readiness to apply her leadership skills in the occupational therapy profession.

Lauryn naturally possesses a tremendous amount of soft-skills that are difficult to teach. She related easily to individuals from varied backgrounds, is open to a wide range of communication styles, and works to make people feel comfortable in their environment in, what appears to be, an effortless manner. – A Faculty Member at VCU
