SPOTLIGHT ON PAST VOTA SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS!

Where you are currently working: Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU, Petersburg Therapy Center
Anything you are proud to have accomplished in the realm of OT: I successfully challenged the clinical ladder at Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU to become an Occupational Therapist Clinical Level III within our organization. I am currently participating in Boston University's Post-Professional Occupational Therapy Doctorate program with expected graduation in August 2020. At Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU, Petersburg Therapy Center, I helped create and maintain the CARRY program (Cheap, Active, Resources, Ready for You) which contains home exercise program materials for patients and families receiving occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech language pathology services. This program is funded by the VCU Medical Center Auxiliary grant program, and it has increased our customer service and patient progress towards goals at Petersburg Therapy Center. I also volunteered with Go Baby Go to expand accessibility modifications for their battery-operated ride-on cars.
A favorite non-work related occupation: hiking with my husband and dog
What receiving a VOTA scholarship meant to you: It was such an honor to receive a VOTA scholarship as a student. It helped build my confidence while I was developing important clinical and critical reasoning skills to become an entry-level occupational therapist.
